Photography has the unique ability to capture emotions, preserve fleeting moments, and tell stories that stand the test of time. For Puy Cermeño, photography is more than just a profession—it is her passion, her sixth sense, and the medium through which she weaves love into every frame. In this exclusive interview, we explore her journey, style, and what makes her artistry truly one of a kind.
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and your background?
“Hi, I’m Puy! Mother of Adriana and a photographer by profession… but above all, by passion. I love telling stories through my camera and knowing that my work allows memories to endure over time, remaining intact.”
Puy’s love for photography is deeply personal. She describes the camera as her sixth sense, a tool that helps her travel through time, relive emotions, and cherish the presence of loved ones. “The camera has been, is, and will always be my sixth sense. I can’t imagine life without photos.”
How long have you been engaged in the wedding industry?
For the past six years, Puy has been dedicated to capturing love stories, refining her craft, and forming deep connections with her clients. Wedding photography, to her, is more than just work—it is an emotional and creative endeavor.
How would you describe your photography style?
“Fine art, editorial, artistic, sensitive, and lightness.”
Puy’s approach to photography blends a refined artistic sensibility with an ethereal softness. Her images are evocative, timeless, and infused with a sense of poetic beauty.
What kind of equipment do you use for your photography?
Puy embraces both film and digital formats. Each has its own charm, and she masterfully combines them to create a distinctive aesthetic that feels both nostalgic and modern.
What kind of post-processing do you typically do on your images?
“Lightness, art, and fine art style.”
Her post-processing is an extension of her artistic vision—delicate enhancements that preserve the authenticity and emotion of each moment.
What do you enjoy most about being a photographer?
“The most enjoyable part of my work is, without a doubt, the connection I create with my clients. On the wedding day, I am always fully focused and happy, savoring every click of my cameras, every ray of light, and every moment of the celebration.”
For Puy, weddings are not just events but profound experiences filled with love, joy, and fleeting magic. She considers herself incredibly lucky to be a part of these stories. “I feel like the luckiest person in the world, getting to tell love stories, and I give 200% of myself to the process.”
How do you approach working with clients to achieve their desired outcome?
“I strive to maintain a continuous relationship with them from the moment we sign the contract until their wedding day. We exchange artistic and musical preferences, and talk about cinema, fashion, and architecture.”
By getting to know her clients on a personal level, Puy ensures that their personalities shine through in every image. “I like them to feel that I am just another guest, not merely a service provider. And most of the time, we achieve this, which makes the energy on their wedding day truly special, allowing naturalness to shine effortlessly.”
Can you work with the couple to create a custom package that meets their specific needs?
“Of course. I try to do that on each wedding.”
Understanding that no two love stories are the same, Puy tailors her services to fit the unique needs and desires of each couple.
Do you have any recommendations or tips for clients to prepare for a photo shoot or event?
“To drink a couple of glasses of wine before the shooting! Hahhahaha.”
While she jokes about wine, Puy believes the best way for couples to prepare is by building a connection with their photographer. “No, but although wine always helps, the most reliable trick of all is getting to know your photographer and building a basic relationship with her so you can feel comfortable. Trust your photographer and try to have a good time.”
Do you do destination weddings? What is your favorite destination?
“Yes of course. Mexico is my favorite destination.”
Puy is no stranger to capturing love in breathtaking locations. For her, Mexico offers a dreamlike setting, rich with culture, stunning landscapes, and an unparalleled warmth that enhances the beauty of every wedding she photographs.
For Puy Cermeño, wedding photography is a deeply emotional and artistic pursuit. Her ability to connect with her clients, her sensitivity to light and composition, and her unwavering passion for storytelling set her apart. Each frame she captures is a testament to love, light, and the timeless magic of photography.
