Botias recalls her formative years with a vivid clarity that brings her narrative to life. "I was always very arty when younger and it was my best friend’s dad that originally inspired me to be a makeup artist! He mentioned about special effects for TV and I was immediately sold!" she explains. Her academic pursuit at the London College of Fashion wasn't just a phase of learning but a gateway that opened her to the high-paced, exacting demands of the fashion industry.

The shift from fashion to bridal makeup was not abrupt but a gentle, rewarding transition. "I always did the odd wedding along the way and loved how rewarding it was, as well as being a happy environment to be in," Botias elaborates. She describes her evolution, "It was also a more financially reliable industry to be in as people would book you quite far in advance so you knew what to expect re that side of the business. So one day I decided to do a wedding show locally. I slowly came away from the freelance industry whilst trying to build my weddings… and the rest is history."

Signature Style and Philosophy

Botias has crafted a signature makeup style that has become sought-after in the bridal world. “I have built a reputation in the industry for producing a soft glam bridal look which has a beautiful glow. Bridal makeup is quite tricky to find that balance of looking beautiful in real life but also having that power for photos. The bride wants to feel them self as well as show off their best features so lots of challenging aspects to consider," she states. "I feel I have managed to find that balance by making sure there is that beautiful blend in real life and lots of radiance in the skin, but also making features such as the eyes and lips to have that slightly extra definition and depth. This combination looks great in photos too!"

Most Memorable Project

Reflecting on her most memorable experiences, Botias shares a particularly special project. "Recently I had the honour of being the hairstylist for Rachel who married at Hotel du Cap in September," she reminisces. "One venue that has always been on my bucket list but I also had the pleasure of joining Rachel on her journey through her dress designs. She had 5 haute couture dresses designed by Chanel and I had the honour of assisting her at the Chanel house in Paris. Being a huge fashion fan and studying at the London college of fashion. This wedding brought all of my love’s together in one place. I was able to witness Olivia head of couture stitch Rachel into her dresses on the day and to style the hair with the team was one of my most memorable to date."

For aspiring artists, especially from communities like Wezoree, she offers this advice: "Picture where you want to be and aim for it. Believe in yourself and go above and beyond with every client that sits in your chair."

Essential Tools and Future Goals

When asked about the tools of her trade that she cannot do without, Botias shows a deep affection for her collection. "My makeup brushes is a must! Some have been with me since my studying days so I have moulded them into my favourite tools. Also my lighting equipment by Neewar to show off my work to its best," she details.

Looking forward, she shares her aspirations: "To keep pushing to be at the top in the industry. To keep doing what I love and sharing with like minded individuals. I also have a bridal accessories range that I would like to give more attention to and grow more."
