Mervé herself reflects on these beginnings: "I began my photography journey at only the age of 15, shooting my first wedding." This initial spark during her teenage years led her to academic pursuits in photography. She shares, "The initial stages of my studies involved being at RMIT studying Bachelor in Photography and hoping to specialize in fashion but went into further studies, studying my Masters in Teaching Photography at The University of Melbourne."

This shift from fashion to teaching marked a significant evolution in her approach, enriching her perspective and deepening her affection for wedding photography. "I remember the first few weddings I had shot," Mervé reminisces, "the feedback I would get from our couples would be that I had a calming and patient nature, and I would have to thank my teaching career that enabled me to bring that to our couples."
