Before she was transforming fields into dreamscapes, The Wedding Company was navigating the structured corridors of corporate law. Her world was contracts, systems, global offices, and strict project timelines. But everything shifted in 2012 when she began planning her own wedding.
“I am a business lawyer with a lot of corporate experience within project management for various companies all around the globe,” she says. “In 2012 I started to plan my own wedding and saw the potential within the market, as the European destination wedding planner market was not too big.”
The discovery felt almost intuitive. While planning her own celebration, she realized how much she loved shaping concepts, balancing aesthetics, and weaving structured planning with artistic vision. “The conception and design in harmony with the planning always catches my heart and creativity,” she shares.
From that point, the path became clear. A spark turned into a career, and in 2016 she officially stepped into wedding planning full-time. “Since all those years every single couple and wedding encourages my passion and love for this job again and again. Like a flame which never ends.”
Today, Sonja leads The Wedding Company with an approach rooted in focus, emotional intelligence, and deep respect for the couples who trust her. When asked what she loves most about wedding planning, her answer flows without hesitation:
“The vows and the first look of the reception.”
These are the moments where preparation dissolves into presence. Where the couple sees the life they’ve dreamed of become real. For Sonja, these moments are the true heartbeat of her work.
Every planner has a guiding principle. For Sonja, it is both simple and profound:
The Weddings Company is known for bespoke experiences, where no celebration feels borrowed or repeated. While she specializes in full-service planning, her flexibility remains a core strength. “We normally love to take over the full wedding planning services, but we are always open to customize our services based on the couple’s requirements.”
That balance of structure and sensitivity has become her signature.
When you ask Sonja about her most memorable wedding, she smiles and answers,
“Too many to list!!!”
And it makes sense. Her work spans Europe, from storybook villas to wild landscapes. But what excites her most are the places still untouched, the corners of Europe that feel like secrets waiting to be discovered. “Always love and open to explore and source the hidden gems in Europe for our clients.”
Her dream venue? Not a palace. Not a coastline. Not a ballroom.
“A green field to create a new world from the scratch.”
That line alone captures her essence. She’s not just a planner. She’s a builder.
The wedding world is full of beauty but also full of shifts, especially in the era of social media. Sonja addresses one challenge with honesty:
Her answer reflects why her brand stands strong: transparency, experience, and the courage to guide couples wisely.
Budget anxiety is universal, no matter the continent. Sonja’s advice is grounded and refreshing:
“Track your budget planner closely and make realistic budget planning positions. Get yourself a planner who doesn’t add commissions to every vendor contract without knowing it, so they might pay double or triple and don’t even know it!”
For her, staying on budget is not about cutting corners; it's about selecting the right team that protects the couple’s investment.
Her overarching advice to couples?
“Select an experienced planner with great reviews and recommendations and then trust your planner.”
Trust is the currency that makes everything else possible.
If she could go back to the beginning of her career, Sonja knows exactly what she’d tell her younger self:
It’s a simple sentence, but it carries the quiet clarity of someone who has learned, built, and refined a high-level craft through intuition as much as expertise.
There are planners who organize weddings, and planners who create experiences. Sonja Yildizoglu belongs to the second category. Her work is thoughtful, imaginative, and deeply rooted in honoring what each couple dreams of.
With The Wedding Company, she has built more than a brand. She has built a way of seeing. A way of planning. A way of turning empty fields, unfamiliar landscapes, and whispered ideas into real celebrations that feel intentional, emotional, and entirely unforgettable.
