Nick Zharkov’s story is anything but conventional as he initially pursued a career worlds apart from photography. "I graduated from the faculty of International Relations," he shares, "and started my career in diplomatic representation." It was a path marked by diplomacy, structure, and prestige—yet something unexpected found its way into his life.
"I did not plan to become a wedding photographer," he admits, but life had other plans. Photography began as a hobby, a creative outlet amidst the formalities of his diplomatic role. For four years, Nick lived a double life, working both as an Embassy employee and as an emerging photographer. Eventually, his passion tipped the scales. "I decided to tie the knot forever with my hobby," he says with a smile, his words echoing the personal and professional commitment he made.
Four years ago, Nick took a leap of faith. Moving to Europe, he started over—new country, new challenges, new beginnings. Today, Nick Zharkov stands among the 30 best wedding photographers in Europe, a testament to his resilience and talent.
When asked to describe his photography style, Nick’s words are deliberate. "Classic, Editorial and Documentary," he explains. Each image he creates is steeped in timeless elegance, cinematic flair, and genuine emotion. His work is a celebration of human connection, free of overly complex artistry.
His toolkit is as meticulously curated as his approach. Working with two Canon R6 cameras and an array of premium lenses—including the Canon RF 28-70mm 2.0 and Canon RF 50mm 1.2—Nick ensures that every detail is captured with stunning precision.
Post-processing is where Nick’s artistic vision truly comes to life. "I focus on color correction and skin retouching," he says, his attention to detail evident in every frame. The result? Images that feel alive, brimming with vibrant yet natural hues.
Nick’s approach to working with clients is as thoughtful as his artistry. "Communication before the wedding is absolutely crucial for me," he emphasizes. "Without it, achieving the couple's goals is nearly impossible." He believes that understanding a couple’s vision requires trust and dialogue.
Nick also recognizes the importance of collaboration with other professionals. A great wedding planner can make all the difference, he notes. When planners share their vision and maintain close contact with the couple, it creates a synergy that enhances the entire process. This teamwork allows Nick to focus on what he does best: capturing raw, unfiltered emotions.
To help couples feel prepared, Nick shares personalized wedding style guides. These guides are not just about the aesthetics, they help couples think about their day in a cohesive way—how the details, the moments, and the emotions will come together.
With over 10 years in the wedding industry, Nick knows the importance of balance. He typically shoots 25 to 30 weddings a year, ensuring each couple receives the time and attention they deserve. For each event, Nick offers 10 to 12 hours of coverage, documenting the day from start to finish.
Custom packages are another cornerstone of his services. He always works with couples to create packages tailored to their specific needs. Whether it’s additional hours, unique locations, or specific moments they want to be captured, Nick is flexible and accommodating.
Nick’s pride in his work comes from the knowledge that he’s doing more than taking photos—he’s preserving legacies. "I feel satisfaction and pride in being part of the creation of many families," he says. "I'm glad that I can create a kind of story through my vision."
Nick is no stranger to travel, and his love for destination weddings is palpable. "I only do destination weddings," he states, his passion for exploring new places shining through. When asked about his favorite locations, his answer is immediate: "Italy and France."
