Julia Wade Photography has been in the wedding photography industry for over 16 years, photographing weddings all across the U.S. and internationally since 2008. Based in Raleigh, North Carolina, Julia has honed her craft, blending her experience with an eye for timeless beauty and emotional storytelling.
"I am a storyteller at heart with an eye for connection," Julia says when asked to describe her photography style. "I love creating a beautiful editorial feel in the candid moments that happen during a wedding day."
Julia’s images strike a delicate balance between being artistic and authentic. Her approach is minimalistic when it comes to editing—there are no heavy filters or excessive retouching. "Very minimal post-processing happens in my imagery," she explains. "Color, contrast, and tone are always adjusted for my imagery to stay true to life and beautiful for years to come."
One of the aspects that make Julia Wade such a sought-after photographer is her intuitive approach to working with clients. "I think it's important to listen to small cues throughout the planning process to hear what the couple is saying without saying it," she says thoughtfully. "Understanding those small nuances creates really personal and meaningful imagery."
Julia takes her time to get to know each couple, understanding their preferences, their personalities, and their love stories. This allows her to create custom packages for her clients, a practice she feels is essential. "All of my couples received custom proposals,” she notes.
While some photographers constantly seek out the latest trends in gear or editing styles, Julia keeps her process grounded in consistency and reliability. She’s a devoted Canon shooter, trusting the brand to provide the clarity and precision she requires for her work.
Though her equipment may be high-tech, her focus remains on the human aspect of the wedding day. "I love the people and love turning a mirror to the beauty of the day and the love that surrounds a couple and their community," she admits.
Julia’s work isn’t confined to Raleigh, North Carolina. In fact, she’s mostly a destination wedding photographer, and she’s traveled to some of the most beautiful locations across the globe to capture couples’ special days. One of her favorite places to photograph? Cape Town, South Africa.
She encourages her clients to live fully in the moment on their wedding day, promising to take care of the rest. "Live the day - a brilliant photographer will capture and guide you in the rest."
