Keryn Sweeney Weddings, based in the picturesque landscapes of Auckland, embarked on her photographic journey driven by a passion that took root in her childhood. Her arsenal includes a Canon R5 for digital needs and an assortment of film cameras, which she prefers for their ability to render skin tones with unparalleled naturalism. "I'm likely to be seen with many film bodies attached to be on a wedding day," Keryn explains, underscoring her commitment to quality and longevity in her work. “ For me It's about creating timeless forever images that won't date.”
Each year, Keryn commits to photographing no more than 25 weddings, a decision that allows her to offer a bespoke, intimately customized service to each couple. She invests considerable time in understanding the unique needs and desires of her clients. "It's really about learning about what is most important to my clients so I can give them a customized service to meet their needs. Every couple is so different and I love that about my clients," she states. This dedication ensures that each wedding she photographs is reflective of her clients’ personalities and visions.
Preparation and client interaction are pivotal elements of Keryn's process. She believes in the power of personal connection prior to the event, which she accomplishes through face-to-face meetings. "I think it's really important I meet my couple in person before the day, it makes such a difference," she notes. This approach not only eases the clients into the photo shoot but also enhances the authenticity and comfort level during the event, allowing for more natural and spontaneous photographs.
As a photographer who loves to explore new places, Keryn finds great joy in destination weddings. With a dual fondness for the romantic backdrops of Paris and the bustling streets of New York City, she eagerly anticipates her bookings in these cities for 2025. "I am so lucky to travel all over world," she remarks. Paris and NYC, with their distinctive charm and energy, provide the perfect canvas for her to craft her storytelling images.
