Phoebe & Daniel: A Classic New York 'I Do' at the Beekman Hotel

Phoebe and Daniel's wedding, held on July 10, 2023, at the stunning Beekman Hotel in New York, was an intimate affair with 90 guests. The planning, spanning a couple of months, was a journey of joy and discovery for the couple.

"Didn’t really have one - in fact, we weren’t sure we actually wanted a wedding or just to elope," Phoebe and Daniel shared when asked about the vision of their dream wedding. Their final decision, however, was a celebration that was deeply personal and reflective of their journey together. "We just wanted the wedding to be true to us - be intimate enough to emphasize our friends and family but also have great music to make it a real party," they explained. "And we wanted it to be in NYC and have that New York City charm, as this city has been the backdrop to our entire love story."

Morning details

The day began with the couple choosing to go simple yet elegant with their invitations, opting for designs from Paperless Post. Their wedding rings, chosen from MusexMuse in the West Village and designed by Vise Versa, were a testament to their shared summer joy. The Beekman Hotel provided the perfect setting with its chic easels for their welcome sign, seating chart, place cards, and more, while their guest book was a beautiful collection of engagement photos.

Phoebe's dress is a work of art by Verdin Bridal. “I tried on about 10 other dresses before choosing this one. Originally I thought I’d choose something more minimal, but ended up loving this dress - especially the jacquard fabric with the large flower print, as well as the glamour of the bodice and puff sleeves,” she revealed. Her preparations took place at the Beekman Hotel.

Daniel, on the other hand, chose a classic tuxedo from Suitsupply, complementing Phoebe's glamour. His preparations, also at the Beekman Hotel, were filled with anticipation and excitement for the day ahead.

First Look

The first look was a moment of cinematic romance, set in the Beekman's Atrium. Daniel's first glimpse of Phoebe left him in awe of her stunning appearance. “I had a lot of anticipation of what the dress would look like as I was being teased for so long,” he recalls.

Phoebe couldn't help but admire how dashing Daniel looked. “This is going to be so much fun,” she thought. The live jazz band added an extra layer of magic to the moment. “I felt like I was in a movie,” mentioned Phoebe.

Photoshoot before the ceremony

The couple chose the Beekman for their pre-ceremony photoshoot, its classic New York charm perfectly echoing their love story. “We did it inside the Beekman because (a) it’s gorgeous and has that classic romance of old New York and (b) it was raining outside so we needed to stay indoors,” the couple added.

Ceremony

The ceremony, held at the same venue, was filled with personal touches. Instead of traditional vows, Daniel expressed his love through a heartfelt haiku, while Phoebe's father, the officiant, brought both tears and laughter to the gathering. “He almost cried at the beginning, but pulled it together with a joke. It actually just helped set the whole mood,” they mention.

Wedding Venue & Decor

The Beekman, with its classic and intimate ambiance, was an obvious choice for their venue. “We wanted someplace in NYC, someplace classy and intimate but could still fit a good-sized party. The Beekman hit all those points - every part of the hotel fit our vibe. We knew of the Beekman because Phoebe’s parents lived in the financial district for 8 years. When we contacted the Beekman, they replied immediately and were very easy to work with! So it was an obvious choice,” the couple stated.

The décor, inspired by Danny's love for dusty pink, blush, and dark purple flowers, was beautifully executed by Concrete Bloom, setting the theme for their special day.

Reception

Their reception was a celebration of love and joy, with Barbara Lewis's "Baby I’m Yours" setting the tone for their first dance. The couple's impressions of their vendors were nothing short of fantastic. Phoebe exclaimed, “I would use them all again and recommend them to anyone. Each delivered exactly what we wanted, and also what we needed but may not have known was necessary.”
