For many, the path to a fulfilling career is a winding road. For Nina Anić, a full-time wedding photographer based in Croatia, that road took her from the world of engineering to the artistry of photography. With a degree in building construction, Nina seemed destined for a career in engineering. However, fate had other plans. “I never worked in my field,” she reflects, acknowledging that her appreciation for architecture and design has never left her. Instead, it found a new home in her photography. "These passions influence my photography, giving my work a distinct aesthetic that combines structural elegance with emotional depth."

Since 2013, Nina has dedicated her life to wedding photography, blending her technical skills with an artistic eye to create intimate and timeless images. Her background in architecture allows her to see beauty in structure, while her passion for design and fashion brings a refined elegance to every shot. "I like to say I’m an old poetic soul, fortunate to call a passion her career,” Nina says, encapsulating her deep love for the craft.

An Artistic, Intimate Style

When asked about her photography style, Nina describes it as a delicate mix of artistry and romance. "I dare say my photography is artistic, intimate, and romantic, with a touch of editorial style photography," she shares. For Nina, capturing the true essence of a couple’s love is more than just snapping a photo—it’s about creating art. Her images have an ethereal quality that makes the viewer feel like they are part of the couple’s journey.

Nina’s goal is to capture those natural, intimate moments between couples, allowing them to relive their wedding day through the eyes of someone who truly understands the significance of each glance and each touch. "The type of photography I love to do is where people look natural. So my advice is always to forget about the camera and just enjoy the time together."

Crafting Memories with Precision

Behind every image is a careful balance of artistry and technique. Nina relies on her trusted Nikon Z8 and a collection of lenses, including her beloved 28mm and 58mm prime lenses. "I still love my DSLR D780 with the 28mm and 58mm f1.4 prime lenses,” she reveals, showing her appreciation for tools that allow her to bring out the finest details in her work. Her photography is not about excessive retouching or post-processing; instead, she aims to keep the natural beauty of the moment intact. “All Lightroom edit without heavy editing,” she emphasizes, focusing on enhancing the authenticity of her images.

For Nina, photography is more than just a profession. "Wedding photography is a service,” she admits, but she finds herself drawn to clients who appreciate the artistry behind her work. "I’m grateful and lucky that my clients are people who value artistic photography and understand its value for the future. And I admit I enjoy that 'stamp' and being called an artist sometimes, even though it's such a small part of my job."

A Dedication to Telling the Whole Story

Nina’s commitment to her craft is evident in the amount of time and effort she invests in each wedding. Typically, she offers 10 to 12 hours of coverage, capturing everything from the bride and groom getting ready to the wild celebrations on the dance floor. But Nina doesn’t just clock out when the time is up. “I don’t check my watch and run after 12 hours. If it’s still wild on the dance floor and I feel I can get more interesting frames, I stay and leave once I’m confident I have the full story,” she explains.

This dedication to storytelling ensures that her clients receive a collection of images that truly reflect the entire wedding day. Every frame is part of a larger narrative, one that Nina carefully crafts to allow couples to relive their special day again and again.

Tailored Experiences for Every Couple

Understanding that no two weddings are alike, Nina offers customized packages that meet the specific needs of her clients. “Yes, I often do tailored custom packages,” she notes, highlighting her flexibility in working with couples to ensure they receive the photography experience that best suits their day. Whether it’s an intimate ceremony or a grand destination wedding, Nina approaches each event with the same level of dedication and artistry.

Capturing Love Across Borders

As a destination wedding photographer, Nina often finds herself traveling far from home. “I rarely get to sleep in my bed after a wedding,” she laughs, revealing that most of the weddings she shoots are destination events. And while she has had the privilege of photographing in many beautiful locations, one country stands out. "Italy—for a wedding, for a trip, and Italy for anything," she says, with a smile that reflects her deep admiration for the country.

A Timeless Career in Photography

Nina Anić has built a career out of passion, creativity, and the joy of capturing life’s most beautiful moments. Her journey from engineering to photography reflects her ability to blend the technical with the artistic, creating images that are both structurally elegant and emotionally rich. With a camera in hand and a heart full of love for her craft, Nina continues to craft timeless memories for couples around the world, one wedding at a time.

As she so beautifully puts it, “I’m an old poetic soul, fortunate to call a passion her career.”
