“I never saw myself capturing weddings,” Madi Pere admits with a smile, reminiscing about her early days behind the camera. "My journey in photography started while I was in college helping friends take photos for social and dating apps." Little did she know, that experience would plant the seed for what would eventually become a full-time career.
It wasn’t until she photographed her first wedding that everything changed. “I love the ebb and flow of a wedding day along with the emotions they bring," she explains. Since then, Madi Pere Photography has made a name for herself as a wedding photographer who thrives in the whirlwind of wedding day magic.
Madi’s photography journey officially began in 2020 when she launched her business, but her passion for photography stretches back to 2016. Her evolution as a photographer is deeply tied to her experiences and the emotional weight of weddings.
When asked to describe her photography style, Madi’s response is quick and assured. “An effortless blend of photojournalism & art direction,” she says with a thoughtful nod. She wants her images to feel timeless, not overly posed or stiff. There’s beauty in capturing things as they happen, but also in giving moments a little intentional direction.
Madi’s love for both digital and film photography is evident. “I loveeee the mix of digital and film photography,” she explains. “I find the combination gives a since of modern elegance with vintage nostalgia. I also am a proud user of a flash at all moments of the day.” Her approach is thoughtful and intentional, aiming to offer a modern elegance with a touch of vintage charm.
“I will typically try to keep things very natural in tone but I will edit out distractions,” Madi emphasizes when talking about her post-processing routine. When it comes to her film photography, Madi’s hands-off approach is clear. “For film, I try not to touch it at all. There is something very authentic about film and I try not to manipulate it as much as possible to keep that essence.”
For Madi, working with clients is all about trust. "I tell clients that I am an artist first and a wedding photographer second. My priority is to capture moments with a flare - combining an eye for photojournalism with intentional direction to achieve effortlessly iconic imagery."
Her approach with clients is warm and reassuring. "It's ok to be nervous or anxious in front of the camera," she acknowledges. "Breathe. It's my job to make you feel comfortable both before & during the session or event."
When it comes to how she spends her time on a wedding day, Madi’s answer is simple: "I prefer longer wedding days. You'll often find me at most weddings for at least 10 hours." This commitment to time allows her to fully immerse herself in the day’s events.
Madi is flexible when it comes to her services. "Forever and always," she says, referring to her willingness to create custom packages for her couples. "Every couple and wedding are different which often requires customization at some level."
Though Madi has built a solid reputation in the Northeast US, she’s ready for her next adventure. “I mostly do north east city weddings in the US but I'd love to expand into Europe over the next few years.” Her love for travel and new experiences is clear, and it’s only a matter of time before Madi Pere Photography leaves its mark on weddings across the globe.
With a unique blend of authenticity, artistic vision, and emotional connection, Madi Pere Photography is not just about taking photos—it’s about creating lasting legacies.
