I found Maria on The WED and from the first moment we connected, I knew she was the one to photograph my wedding in Menorca last fall. She is curious, thoughtful, and kind. Maria understands the importance of the moment + how to make you feel at ease in front of her camera.

Oh I don’t know where to start!!!!

Planning my own wedding without a wedding planner, abroad, with 8 months to plan it, and not speaking the language of the country in which we chose to get married, I set myself up for no mean feat! When I set out to start planning, you can imagine how overwhelmed I felt with where to start and the sheer amount of vendors and suppliers I quickly realised there were. I spent hours researching, scrolling, saving, pinning and then emailing numerous suppliers. I probably contacted about 20 photographers…

When you’re planning a wedding you have to decide what your ‘non negotiables’ are, and along with music and champagne(!), photos were the top priority for us!!! Being the only thing you get to keep from the day, and with very little experience in front of the camera, we were very fussy!

But turns out we didn’t need to look so far or hard after all. Maria’s portfolio was the first on the list that I looked through and quite literally couldn’t find a bad picture or fault. Maria was the first and only photographer we had a call with. We spoke for about 30 minutes at the start of the call about travel, music, life, Lisbon and London before we even got to introducing ourselves, let alone talk about our goals for the wedding or her service! She concluded the call by saying it’s been lovely to meet you and take your time on getting back to me. But we shut the laptop, looked at eachother and said yep, she’s the one!

And we are SO glad we did. Maria is the most down to earth, smiley, easy going, hard working, kind and generous person! She is skilled at putting you at ease and feeling comfortable and relaxed on your big day when nerves and excitement are high, and in the most intimate of moments. Not only this, but Maria also became my go-to for all things Lisbon! She responded to every text message and email with a rake of knowledge, recommendations, networks and connections, at no other cost than the time it took her, and all with a smile on her face and such enthusiasm to help.

So many of our guests complimented her work style (calm under pressure), and her kind and gentle way of getting what she needed to. The outcome is personal to Ned and I - but in our unbias opinion (!!!), the photos are absolutely perfect and speak for themselves.

We couldn’t have been happier with our decision to work with Maria for our wedding. Despite only meeting her over Zoom before the wedding, we already felt comfortable and confident in her and that feeling only became stronger when we finally met her in person in Portugal.

From the very beginning, she had a calm and reassuring presence, which made a huge difference on a day that can easily feel overwhelming. She made us feel completely at ease in front of the camera, and nothing ever felt forced or unnatural. On such a high stress day like a wedding, having such a calm presence around made a massive difference. Not to mention she is very talented at taking beautiful pictures.

She has a way of being in exactly the right place at the right time, without ever making anyone feel self-conscious or like they’re being directed. Because of that, the photos feel incredibly genuine and truly reflect how the day unfolded.

We’re extremely happy with how everything turned out and feel very lucky to have had her as part of our wedding. We would highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone who is not only talented, but also easy to be around and fully in tune with the moment.

We have no words to describe how kind, empathetic, thoughtful Maria was throughout the whole process of capturing our wedding. From clearly listening and understanding our vision, to helping us feel very comfortable with something so out of our comfort zone, it really felt like having a close friend holding your hand through the whole process haha. From our first conversation, we knew we were in good hands. Our initial consult lasted more than an hour, an unhurried start that set the tone for what followed. Maria was responsive, clear, and generous with her time at every step. She shared trusted vendor referrals, and each one proved excellent.

We met Maria in Sintra for our engagement session right after an overnight flight. Despite the jet lag, that afternoon became a highlight. She read our energy, set the right pace, and made the session feel like time with a friend. She also surprised us with a brief beachside shoot, and those portraits became some of our favorites. That foundation carried into the wedding day. She struck a balance that few manage. We never felt posed, and the images captured everything we cared about. Maria worked with quiet focus, offered guidance when helpful, and gave us space when it mattered most.

After thoughtful editing and careful sequencing, the final images feel alive and honest. The gallery is a clear visual narrative that preserves a strong sense of place and the relationships at the center of the day. Many fleeting moments we barely noticed at the time carry lasting emotional weight. We return to them often.
