Posting to echo my fiancé’s experience.
We came into this wedding season feeling completely confident in Leah. So confident that when our plans changed, we didn’t hesitate to amend our agreement and pay more just to keep working with her. That’s how much trust we had at the start. This review is about what happened to that trust.
About seven hours before our engagement session, we were asked to reschedule because of a trip that had already been booked when our date was reserved. We’d already invested the time and money to get ready — hair, makeup, time off — we proceeded with the session.
That turned out to be the beginning of a much bigger pattern. We were told our sneak peeks would be ready by the end of that weekend. That weekend came and went with no photos and no upd ate. We reached out more than once over the following weeks just trying to get a straight answer. A second delivery date was se t, and it also passed before our gallery finally arrived.
This was never about one late gallery. It was the accumulation of missed commitments and the amount of following up we had to do just to get basic communication that should have come to us without asking.
With our wedding still months away, we asked for a call to talk through our concerns directly. Leah was honest that our experience had fallen below her normal standard, and told us we weren’t the only clients going through something similar. We appreciated the honesty, even though it did more to worry us than reassure us. In the days that followed, she reached out again, still acknowledging where things had fallen short, while we were genuinely weighing whether to stay or ask for a refund. Everything about those conversations told us both options were still on the table.
They weren’t. Once we made the decision to end the agreement, everything shifted from owning the communication and deliverable failures, to holding onto a significant portion of what we’d paid.
Your wedding day doesn’t get a reshoot. We found that out the hard way- not because the photography would’ve been bad, but because we couldn’t count on the person behind the camera to show up for us professionally when it mattered. Don’t learn that lesson on your wedding day. We did, months before ours, and it still wasn’t enough to change what happened.

We are incredibly disappointed to be writing this review because we truly believed we had found the right wedding photographer.
When our wedding plans changed, we amended our agreement and paid more to continue working with Leah because we had complete confidence in our decision. Unfortunately, our experience afterward completely changed that.
It was particularly disappointing that our decision to amend our agreement and pay more to continue working together was later referenced in support of retaining a substantial portion of our payments. That was never how we understood our conversations or the direction they were leading.
Our engagement session got off to a stressful start when we were asked to reschedule approximately seven hours before our session due to an upcoming trip that had already been scheduled when our date was booked. We had already invested significant time and money preparing for the day, including hair, makeup, and taking time off, so we proceeded as planned.
After our engagement session, we were told to expect sneak peeks or our full gallery by the end of the weekend. That weekend passed with no photos and no communication. We followed up multiple times over the following weeks simply trying to receive an update. We were then given another delivery date, which also passed before our gallery was finally delivered.
The issue was never one late gallery. It was the repeated missed commitments, the lack of communication, and repeatedly having to follow up for information that should have been communicated proactively.
We didn't lose trust because of one mistake. We lost trust because every opportunity to rebuild that trust was missed.
The anxiety this created was overwhelming. Instead of looking forward to our wedding photography, we found ourselves wondering if this would be our experience before and after our wedding day. There are no do-overs for wedding photography, and that uncertainty became impossible to ignore.
Because our wedding was still months away, we scheduled a Zoom meeting to discuss our concerns. During that meeting, Leah acknowledged that the level of service we received was well below her normal standard and shared that we were not the only clients who had experienced similar communication issues. While we appreciated her honesty, learning that we were one of many clients affected only reinforced our concern.
After the meeting, Leah sent additional messages apologizing and acknowledging that the level of service we had received fell below her normal standard while knowing we were deciding between continuing with her as our wedding photographer or requesting a full refund less the engagement session fee. We left those conversations believing both options remained on the table and that our concerns had been heard and understood.
When we ultimately made the difficult decision to cancel because we no longer trusted the experience, the response we received was completely different from the conversations that led up to it. Instead of continuing with the same understanding and acknowledgment of the communication failures she had repeatedly recognized, the response shifted to retaining a substantial portion of our payments. We would never have voluntarily walked away from thousands of dollars had we understood that was the position being taken.
This review is not about the quality of the photographs. It is about the client experience. Communication, professionalism, reliability, and trust are just as important as beautiful images.
For us, wedding photography is about more than beautiful images. It's about trust, reliability, and peace of mind. Unfortunately, we felt we lost all three. We hope future couples find this review helpful as they make one of the most important decisions for their wedding day.

We loved having Leah for our wedding and engagement photos!
The day of our wedding she was very professional and relaxed. We felt confident in her abilities, and never doubted that she would deliver amazing results.
It is a big deal to put your trust in somebody on such an important day. We feel that she went above and beyond, and made sure to capture us at our best. Even if you aren’t comfortable in front of a camera, she will definitely find a way to make you look candidly beautiful and handsome.
Leah is so personable and hardworking, and we definitely recommend her!

Not everyone is lucky enough to get their number one choice for something as important as their wedding day photographer. But the fates smiled down on me and my husband and we were honored to have Leah Gunn capture our special day.
From the first email correspondence to the actual wedding day I as the bride couldn’t have enjoyed the process more. Leah made it so easy to communicate what we wanted and plan for the day of. She and her second photographer captured images we will treasure for the rest of our lives.
We couldn’t be happier and are not able to recommend her enough. Know that if you use Leah for your special event, whatever it might be, you will be walking away the best memories to cherish.

Leah truly played an instrumental part in making our wedding day perfect. We knew from the first time we met her, she had to be the one! Each step of the way she reassured us and helped ease our minds when planning got overwhelming. On our wedding day she was very organized and communicated with everyone to make things go so smooth! Leah is seriously a joy to be around and made everyone feel so relaxed all day long. Our photos are full of emotion and perfectly capture the love and excitement we felt during our wedding. She got so many small details that we will treasure forever, and somehow knew exactly what we were looking for! I could not imagine spending such a monumental day with anyone else!

Leah was my Wedding Photographer in August. Not only did she take wonderful, gorgeous photographs -- but the entire day she made sure that I was taken care of. From fixing my dress, being attentive to all the things going on with the Wedding day, to listening to my ideas and thoughts, posing me all the way through. I truly believe no one else would have been able to capture my wedding like Leah did. It was lovely, organic, and timeless. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat!

Leah was the best on our wedding day!! She was so quick and professional with taking the photos, especially right after the ceremony. We opted out of a first look and I was worried that we would feel rushed or not get enough photos and that was not the case at all! She also met with us in depth to learn about our preferred style of photo and the vibes we wanted from the day. She hyped me and my bridesmaids up and made us feel so pretty and was a pro at navigating all the family photos and taking super organic and photogenic reception photos. I can’t recommend her any more highly!

Leah was wonderful to work with! Planning a wedding can be so overwhelming, but her attention to detail and level of collaboration and communication took such a weight off our shoulders. We felt supported and encouraged by her every step of the way, in every decision we made. She really prioritized everything that was important to us, and our gorgeous photos are a perfect reflection of that! Leah made sure we were comfortable and happy in every photo and pose, and we can truly say we actually had a blast getting our pictures taken! We couldn’t be happier with the work she has done for us and the positivity she brought when we were stressed and overwhelmed. We are so grateful to her for giving us the wedding photos we dreamed about!
