Villa Il Garofalo
Villa Il Garofalo

The family of Dante Alighieri, father of the Italian language, and that of Beatrice Portinari, his muse, seem to have been the most illustrious among the families who have lived in the splendid villa over the centuries. Situated on the Fiesole hill, it enjoys a spectacular and unique view of the main monuments of the historic center. The cloister paving and the well are still original and it is easy to imagine a meeting between the Divine Poet and his muse there too. In the area surrounding the cloister there is a delightful, romantic, grove often used for summer banquets. The palace has undergone numerous modifications over the centuries, which have not altered its charm and elegance. The rooms, furnished with taste and attention to detail, preserve valuable furnishings and paintings. Of great impact is the splendid tapestry from the Brussels Manufactures located in the piano room and the large rectangular mahogany table located in the Mirror Room. The large room frescoed on one side by Xavier Bueno is the only one not furnished and this has, over the years, enhanced its versatility. Three of the four rooms overlook a beautiful Italian garden from which you can admire a splendid view of Florence. The final part has a space suitable for celebrating ceremonies. A large English park, at the end of which there is a large parking lot, completes the property.
